Old Manali....

Image
It was in the month of January 2017, we decided this trip as our ‘honeymoon’ , an off season of course. We booked overnight bus to Manali from Delhi and from there we planned to take a vehicle to Old Manali (2.5 kms, 13-15 mins drive). We reached the bus stop of Manali early morning at 6:30 approx. Cold wind was blowing and was very chilly. We planned this trip intentionally just to feel the tranquility of the place. We expected snow as it was new for both of us. Our google research told us that snow fall can be there (though we were not at all prepared physically for such weather). We decided to take a call. The room that we booked was a guest house located in a small village. It was over whelming to see the simple people getting themselves wet in the chilly cold water, carrying out their daily work. We were awestruck!!!                                                Season come and go!!I stand still since ages!!   My husband with Minaram (the guy who owned the guest hou

BALDEYAN....!!!!!

Image
Baldeyan, Himachal Pradesh is approximately 17kms away from the main town of Shimla. We planned to stay at Mashobra but eventually landed in Baldeyan, which has nothing to offer apart from the lonely nature with least human habitat. Perfect place to just relax, read your favourite author, favourite music and breathe the fresh and pure air!! Someone who is a lover of nature, this is the perfect place to refresh yourself from the hustle and bustle of city life. Where there is only you and me!!! Perfect blend of greens, whites and blues!!! People come and go. But I stand alone in the midst of hills!! I see the sunset with a hope to experience a new day, a new beginning!! I stand alone in the tranquil land showing light to people - the little I can offer!!! Don't disturb me...I am happy to be here all alone!!!!

Hichki

A film about  Tourette syndrome , ‘Hickki’ seems to be just another feel good film which gives a superficial portrayal about the education system and draws a clichéd picture of the underprivileged students. First of all why Hichki (which means hiccups) was considered as a title for a film?  I haven’t come across any content or information that  Tourette syndrome  is called hichki in hindi (at least not to my knowledge). I found the entire plot of the film to completely deviate from what the team may actually have longed to produce. What did they want to show? About the medical condition of a teacher who struggled as a kid and took 5 years to get a dream job in academics due to her condition or struggle of a teacher who was given 9F (a batch of 14 students who belonged to slum areas and who were ‘believed’ to be misfit in the school)? It seemed the core team was confused with the treatment of the plot or they didn’t know how to deal with such cases. The film shows this gr

Landour: A walk in paradise

Image
Landour for me is Ruskin Bond and Victor Banerjee. Interestingly, I had just heard about Landour from a friend who visited the place months back. That was the only idea I had about the ‘heaven’ (Yes, I would like to call it in that way!!) Months later, time knocked my door and I googled the place. My search led me to few interesting and unexplored facts from Landour and I instantly decided to pack my bags and spend my vacation in this small abode in the hills. Of all the places, the two spots which struck my mind are the houses of Ruskin Bond and Victor Banerjee (Tollywood actor and my dad’s friend. About Mr Banerjee and his link with my Dad, I am going to share in the later half of this write up). I still have no clue why these two people left a mark on me as neither I'm a voracious reader nor I have watched many of the actors work. I mean, I wanted to meet them if possible but never thought it will affect me so much.  I was just walking down the road of this hil
